Out of favour Arsenal defender Emma Mitchell has revealed that she will be leaving the former FA Women’s Super League champions this summer.
The 27-year-old Kirkcaldy-born defender has spent the last seven years of her career at Meadow Park but was loaned out to Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur during the second half of last season where she made six appearances, scoring two goals.
Mitchell appeared on BBC Alba’s live coverage of the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga fixture between SGS Essen and VfL Wolfsburg this afternoon and the Scot revealed during the show that she will be leaving Arsenal this summer in a search for regular first team football.
The defender made just two league appearances for The Gunners during the first half of this season, both of which came from the bench. Mitchell was given three starts in the group stage of this season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup by Arsenal boss Joe Montemurro while she also made three substitute appearances for the club in the UEFA Women’s Champions League as The Gunners saw off Slavia Prague and Fiorentina.
During her time at Meadow Park, the Scotland international has won one league title, two Women’s FA Cups and three FA Women’s Continental League Cups.
