It has been a busy 24 hours for FA Women’s Championship club Coventry United with two players signing deals which will keep them at the Butts Park Arena next season.
Coventry United have announced that midfielders Katy Morris and Helen Dermody have both committed their immediate futures to the club.
Morris’ new one-year deal was confirmed on Friday. She joined Coventry United last summer after leaving Women’s National League Division 1 North club Chorley and the player has impressed at her new level. Morris started 12 of Coventry United’s 14 games in their first season in the FA Women’s Championship.

The second player to agree to remain at Coventry United next season is Dermody. The midfielder has been one of the club’s biggest success stories this season with the player averaging a goal every 2.75 games in the FA Women’s Championship. Only forward Amber Hughes scored more goals for the second tier debutants than Dermody who has four.

Coventry United finished their first season in the top flight in 10th position. The club’s main aim before the campaign kicked-off was to avoid a bottom of the table finish and they achieved that, although we will never know whether bottom club Charlton Athletic would have produced a revival in their final eight matches to challenge for 10th place.
The Warwickshire club will now be looking to stabilise further in the FA Women’s Championship next season and having the services of both Morris and Dermody will certainly help their cause.
