Coventry United’s 2019/2020 top scorer Amber Hughes has agreed a contract extension with the club.
The winger has excelled for the Warwickshire club this season in what was their first campaign in the FA Women’s Championship.
Hughes ended the season as Coventry United’s top scorer alongside Shannon O’Brien with five goals in 14 appearances, an average of a goal in every 247.4 minutes of football. The player was already something of a club legend before the season kicked-off and she has only enhanced her reputation as this season has gone on.
With Coventry United now planning for a second season in the FA Women’s Championship, the club have confirmed via their official Twitter account that winger Hughes has signed a new deal for next season.

Hughes netted twice for Coventry United as they won 3-1 at Leicester City in November to record their first-ever victory in the FA Women’s Championship. She was also on target against Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and London Bees in what was an impressive campaign on a personal level. The player also scored two goals for Coventry United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
The winger’s goals could again be key next season as Coventry United look to better their 10th-place finish.
