England international forward Chloe Kelly has left Everton after rejecting the offer of a new contract according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.
The 22-year-old four-times capped Lioness has been one of the stars of the current Everton side but she will be playing her football elsewhere next season.
It is understood that Everton offered Kelly the opportunity to stay at Walton Hall Park next season, however, the player has opted for a new challenge.
News of Kelly’s departure is a bitter blow for Everton with the club aiming to push up the Barclays FA Women’s Super League next season. The Blue Girls recorded a much-improved sixth-place finish this season and the club are gearing up for further progress on and off the field in 2020/2021. Manager Willie Kirk will certainly be hoping that Kelly does not join a rival club in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and strengthen their ranks .
The forward was Everton’s top scorer in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season with nine goals. Kelly’s boots contributed to 42.86% of The Blue Girls’ overall league goal tally of 21.
Kelly started her career with Arsenal before enjoying two loan spells with Everton. She joined the Merseyside club on a permanent basis in January 2018 alongside Taylor Hinds.
