Josie Green has signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur, becoming the second player to secure a two year extension at the club as reported on Spurs’ official website.
The central midfielder became vice-captain ahead of her first professional season in 2019. She made her Barclays FA Women’s Super League debut at the London Stadium against West Ham United in September and since then has proved an integral part of the team playing in 12 of the subsequent 13 games.
Green has shown real development transitioning from the FA Women’s Championship to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season, putting in some fine performances, notably against Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of the two flight’s all-time record crowd.
The 27-year-old moved to Spurs from Watford in 2016, joining the squad which would go on to win the quadruple, including promotion to what is now the FA Women’s Championship, at the end of the season.
Her performances this season have also seen Green recalled to the Wales squad, bringing her total to 11 caps since her first one was collected at the age of 16.
Upon signing her new deal, Green told the Spurs’ official media channels “I am really pleased to have signed a new contract with the club.
“I feel that I am continually developing as a player and a big part of that is down to the staff and the environment around me at Spurs.”
