Lewes centre-back Caitlin Hayes has confirmed that she is leaving The Dripping Pan this summer in an emotional post on her Twitter account this evening.
The 24-year-old defender was The Rookettes’ first signing of last summer and she has been a regular for the FA Women’s Championship club this season.
Hayes featured in all-but-one of Lewes’ league fixtures this season as the club finished in a respectable position of eighth place. The former Everton defender also made three appearances in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup while she was sensational as Lewes were only defeated 2-0 by reigning champions of England, Arsenal, in their Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Meadow Park in February.
After an impressive season playing in the second tier, Hayes has this evening confirmed that her time with Lewes is coming to an end.

Hayes was on the books of both Manchester clubs as a scholar before her move to Everton. The defender then spent time in the United States as she represented Mississippi College before moving to Cypriot club Barcelona FA where she scored a hugely impressive 13 goals in just 28 games in all competitions.
Former Lewes boss Fran Alonso acquired the services of a UEFA Women’s Champions League player in Hayes last summer and she has certainly not disappointed during her time in Sussex.
