Highly-rated Republic of Ireland international forward Rianna Jarrett has signed a new contract with Brighton & Hove Albion for next season.
Jarrett joined Hope Powell’s side in January and made just one appearance, scoring an impressive double against Crystal Palace in the Women’s FA Cup.
With no further opportunities to impress, Jarrett probably feels that she has unfinished business on the South Coast after joining Brighton & Hove Albion from Republic of Ireland Women’s National League club Wexford Youths where she had earned the Women’s National League Player of the Season award back in 2018.
Brighton & Hove Albion have already confirmed the departures of several first team players this summer but keeping the services of a promising goalscoring talent will certainly give manager Hope Powell a boost. Jarrett confirmed her new deal on her Twitter account earlier this afternoon.

Last season saw Brighton & Hove Albion finish in ninth position in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. With the standard of competition in the top flight ever-increasing, there is pressure on manager Powell to continue to strengthen her own squad of players to ensure that the club are not fighting for survival next season. Retaining striker Jarrett is certainly a really positive move with the club having struggled for goals in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
