Highly-rated midfielder Amy Rodgers has committed her future to Liverpool according to reports on The Reds’ official website.
The 20-year-old joined The Reds’ academy in 2016 and went on to make her first team debut the following year in a fixture at against Yeovil in the 2017 FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series.
Rodgers had previously been a part of Liverpool’s city rivals Everton’s Centre of Excellence, however, she has gone on to become a popular player in the Liverpool ranks making 21 league appearances in which she has netted one goal.
Despite a promising start to life in the red half of Liverpool, Rodgers suffered a back injury which kept her out for the majority of last season. The player will now be aiming to cement her place in her side’s starting line-up next season.
The midfielder has picked up many honours so far in her career, including the title of 2016 Young Sports Achiever of the Year at The Everybody Awards while she was also nominated for 2019 North West Football Awards’ Women’s Rising Star. Other personal accolades include being awarded the Liverpool Fans’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Season in for the 2018/2019 season.
Upon signing her new deal, Rodgers told Liverpool official media channels “It means so much. Obviously it’s such a great club and I’m just really happy to extend it for another year and just keep going.
“This is a massive club with such a big fanbase. It’s a special club and it’s a great place to be and I’m really happy to be here.”
Next season will be Rodgers’ fifth senior campaign with The Reds and she will be hoping to cap it off with promotion back to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
