Chelsea’s Swiss forward completes PSG move

Chelsea forward Ramona Bachmann has completed a move to French Division 1 Feminine title hopefuls Paris Saint-Germain according to reports on The Blues’ official website.

The 29-year-old Swiss international attacker joined The Blues from German club VfL Wolfsburg in 2017 and the player went on to win five major honours during her time at Kingsmeadow.

Despite being a regular starter for Chelsea manager Emma Hayes in her early days at the club, Bachmann was given just five starts in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League last season as the club successfully won back the title. She was named amongst the substitutes on eight occasions in 2019/2020.

With regular first team football in South West London far from guaranteed, it has today been announced that Bachmann has joined French club Paris Saint-Germain. The forward has signed a two-year deal with The Parisians as the club look to finally end Lyon’s dominance of the Division 1 Feminine.

Bachmann made 88 appearances for Chelsea in which she netted 19 goals. The player has won three league titles with The Blues, including the FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series in 2017, along with the Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

Chelsea fans’ fondest memory of Bachmann will undoubtedly be the 2018 Women’s FA Cup final. The forward netted twice as The Blues saw off Arsenal at Wembley to lift the famous trophy.
