Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Katie Startup has joined Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a successful three-year spell with The Addicks but will now move on with a view to testing herself in the top flight.
Startup has today confirmed via her personal Twitter account that she has joined Brighton & Hove Albion, the length of the player’s contract at The People’s Pension Stadium has not been disclosed.

The keeper was on the books of Chelsea as a youngster before going on to sign for then-third tier club Charlton Athletic. Startup was an FA Women’s Premier League play-off final winner with the South East Londoners as they were promoted and awarded a second tier licence by The Football Association.
Startup has been an ever-present for Charlton Athletic in the FA Women’s Championship. She kept eight clean sheets in 20 matches in the 2018/2019 season as The Addicks ran Tottenham Hotspur close in the race for promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League while she again starred for the club last season despite Riteesh Mishra’s side finishing bottom of the table.
Brighton & Hove Albion now have three goalkeepers on their books, Megan Walsh and Cecilie Fiskerstrand being the others.
