Coventry United goalkeeper extends for 2020/2021 season

Coventry United’s first choice goalkeeper Sue Wood has signed a new contract with the club for the 2020/2021 campaign.

The player is Coventry United’s captain and is one of the most trusted figures in Jay Bradford’s squad at the Butts Park Arena.

Coventry United have this evening confirmed via their official Twitter account that Wood has agreed a new contract at the club for the new season.

Wood was in goal as Coventry United recorded a goalless draw on their FA Women’s Championship debut at Crystal Palace last August. The player went on to be an ever-present for the club in the second tier for the remainder of the 2019/2020 campaign.

The keeper was in inspired form in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup group stage. Coventry United took three of their four ties to a penalty shootout with Wood coming out on top in two of them as her side claimed bonus points from Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa.

Wood becomes the fifth player to extend their contract at Coventry United this summer. She follows Helen Dermody, Katy Morris, Amber Hughes and Shannon O’Brien in signing on again at the Butts Park Arena.
