WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #61

Welcome to this week’s update from the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.

Hope you are all coping as well as possible in what continues to be strange and somewhat troubling times. We hope that as fans, we can all work towards a safe return to our football matches when it is safe enough to do so but as ever, we must continue to follow the guidelines and support each other in getting through.

At Manchester City, we have seen our players return to training at The City Football Academy with some major social distancing in place which I’m sure you will all agree is a significant step in the right direction. A particular boost for us was to see Karen Bardsley return after her long injury lay off.

Talking of goalkeepers, we were all very pleased to see Ellie Roebuck awarded the 2019/2020 Barclays FA Women’s Super League Golden Glove award this week. It is suitable recognition for the fantastic season that Ellie had with us and was thoroughly deserved deserved.

Here at the OSC, we were also extremely proud when it was announced that our secretary, Jayne Comer, was included in the Etihad Cityzens of the Month for July. It is an initiative run by the club where supporters who go that little bit above and beyond can be formally recognised. Jayne certainly has fit into that category over the last few months. As a key worker, she continued to work through while also caring for family members and all that entails. Despite this, she still managed to keep all the day-to-day ins and outs of our wonderful supporters’ club ticking over and trust me that is no mean feat. She is truly one in a million and we are all so proud of her for picking up this award.

This week has seen us open up our membership list for next season and even after just a few days, we have been inundated with applications. If you would like to join up, please E-mail us at and we will get a form to you to fill in. We have also continued to sell our brand new MCWFC OSC Yearbook online with more copies going out. We have now sold out of the copies signed by the author, however, we do still have limited copies of the book left so if you would like a copy please contact us on the above E-mail or via Twitter (@MCWFC_OSC). Our member Peter Simpson also has a Manchester City Women book launching on Saturday and I will be revealing how to get in touch with Peter and order your copy of his book in a separate post on the FA Women’s Super League Full-Time website this weekend. Details will also follow on our social media feeds.

Finally, our online threads have again been busy during the last few weeks as interactions with other clubs and other branches of City’s Supporters Club increases all of the time. It is great to talk to other fans with everything which is going on at the moment, it is so important to keep connected.

Stay safe and see you again next week.
