Liverpool have completed the signing of Danish international striker Amalie Thestrup according to reports on The Reds’ official website.
The 25-year-old Hellerup-born forward has moved to the Merseyside club from Italian outfit AS Roma and Thestrup becomes Liverpool’s third addition of the summer.
Thestrup is expected to spearhead Liverpool’s title push in the FA Women’s Championship this season with the club having handed the player the number nine shirt.
The forward started her senior career in her homeland with Brondby IF where she won two Danish Elitedivisionen league titles and two Danish Cups. A short spell with Vejle followed before the striker spent two years with BSF. Thestrup joined Serie A club AS Roma in 2019 and the player went on to net three goals in 12 top flight outings for ‘The Magic One’ last season.
The player has also been called up by Denmark on four occasions, making her debut against China PR in an Algarve Cup fixture in 2019.
After signing on at Prenton Park, Thestrup told Liverpool’s official media channels “Liverpool is a massive, iconic club which has a great history in European football and has done a lot for women’s football as well.
“So I’m extremely excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to go to the UK to play as it’s a really exciting development going on with women’s football and when Liverpool became a possibility for me, there was no doubt in my mind this was where I wanted to go to take the next step in my career.”
Thestrup joins Rachael Laws and Taylor Hinds in joining Liverpool this summer.
