Blackburn Rovers captain Saffron Jordan has signed a new one-year contract with the FA Women’s Championship club.
The 26-year-old attacker netted four goals in 11 appearances for Rovers in the second tier last season as the club recorded a second-place finish in their first year at that level.
Rovers announced Jordan’s new deal via their official website last night. While the striker has signed on for one year, the club are not ruling out a further extension next summer.
Keeping hold of Jordan has handed Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly a real boost. The club have lost the services of last season’s top scorer Natasha Flint earlier this summer but holding onto second top scorer Jordan is a positive. Donnelly will be looking to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer to take some of the goal pressure off the club’s number nine.
The striker is about to begin her seventh season as a Blackburn Rovers player after joining the club in summer 2014 following a spell playing in the United States. Jordan can count both Manchester United and Manchester City as her former clubs.
Jordan is a Rovers legend after netting more than a century of goals for the club. She is set to edge closer to her 150th appearance this season.
