Young Blackburn Rovers defender Ellie Fletcher has signed a new contract with the club for the coming season.
The 21-year-old joined Rovers from former Barclays FA Women’s Super League club Liverpool in January but made just two appearances for her new side before the 2019/2020 campaign was brought to a premature end.
Despite only being a Rovers player for a short period of time, Fletcher has seemingly made an impact upon manager Gemma Donnelly with the youngster having signed on at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium for the coming season. Rovers announced the news earlier today on their official Twitter account.

Fletcher started her career in the Manchester United Centre of Excellence before joining Liverpool in 2016. The defender made her senior debut for The Reds as they defeated Sunderland 4-0 in the 2017 FA Women’s Super League 1.
The player joined second tier side Sheffield United on loan during the 2018/2019 campaign and she made eight appearances for The Blades in the FA Women’s Championship before injury prematurely ended her stay in South Yorkshire. Fletcher returned for a second loan spell with the club last season prior to joining Blackburn Rovers.
Fletcher is the seventh player to sign a contract extension with Blackburn Rovers so far this summer.
