Former Liverpool prospect Simran Jhamat has joined Lewes ahead of the new season according to reports on The Rookettes’ official website.
The 19-year-old has most recently been playing her football for Lewes’ FA Women’s Championship rivals Coventry United who she left last month.
The midfielder made two appearances for Coventry United in last season’s FA Women’s Championship. She had started the campaign with the Warwickshire club’s local rivals Leicester City.
Jhamat will remain in the second tier this season with the player having joins Lewes. She becomes the six player to move to The Dripping Pan so far this summer.
The midfielder started her career in Aston Villa’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC) before joining the Liverpool youth system. She went on to make her debut for The Reds at senior level in a 2-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2019. Jhamat made one further appearance for the Merseyside club before joining Leicester City where she spent almost a year of her career. That short spell with Coventry United followed and Jhamat will now be hoping to make Lewes her long term home.
Jhamat is the latest player with international experience to join Lewes. The youngster has already represented England up to Under-19 level and she will be hoping for further international honours during her time in Sussex.
