Everton manager Willie Kirk has again been busy in the transfer market with the signing of Spanish midfielder Damaris Egurrola according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.
The 21-year-old Orlando-born midfielder has joined the Merseyside club on a free transfer after recently leaving Athletic Bilbao while she has signed a two-year deal at Walton Hall Park. Egurrola will wear the number 12 shirt for Everton this season.
The youngster has been capped by her country at senior level on one occasion and the move to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League should enhance her chances of further international honours.
Egurrola is known to be a box-to-box central midfielder who despite her young age, already has more than 100 senior club appearances to her name with former club Athletic Bilbao. The midfielder made a handful of those appearances in 2015/2016 as Athletic Bilbao became champions of Spain for a fifth time.
It is understood that the player is unlikely to be in the Everton squad which are set to travel to Bristol City this weekend for their opening fixture in the 2020/2021 Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Egurrola is currently in quarantine and will need time to be brought up to full match fitness.
