Former Leicester City and Coventry United forward Rosie Axten was on target for new club Nottingham Forest yesterday, netting for The Tricky Trees in a 2-0 East Midlands derby victory over Derby County.
The 22-year-old striker, who most recently played for Forest’s opponents, made the move along the A52 this summer.
The two East Midlands rivals went head-to-head at Eastwood CFC yesterday with Axten getting her name on the scoresheet for the very first time in a Forest shirt. She netted the home side’s second goal in a comprehensive victory over their neighbours Derby County.
Despite her young age, Axten accumulated more than a century of appearances for former club Leicester City. She was a member of the side which experienced second tier football for the very first time in 2018/2019. Axten ended that campaign with four goals in the FA Women’s Championship.
After proving that she was more than capable of playing in the second tier, the forward joined another FA Women’s Championship club in Coventry United last summer. Axten netted two goals in all competitions for the Warwickshire outfit before moving to Derby County midway through the season.
Her latest club Nottingham Forest are in fourth position in the FA Women’s National League North after two matches.
