Manchester City full-back Lucy Bronze and Chelsea forward Pernille Harder have made the final three-player shortlist for The Best FIFA Women’s Player award for 2020.
The pair are joined on the shortlist by Lyon centre-back Wendie Renard with the three finalists revealed by FIFA via their official website this afternoon.
Defender Bronze won the treble with former club Lyon in 2019/2020 as they secured yet another UEFA Women’s Champions League title alongside a domestic league and cup double. On an individual level, the England international was crowned the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year for 2020 while she was also named in the IFFHS Women’s World Team 2020. Since returning to Manchester City, Bronze has gone on to lift the 2019/2020 Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
Chelsea forward Harder helped former club VfL Wolfsburg to last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League final. She netted nine goals in the 2019/2020 competition. She was also a domestic double-winner with the She-Wolves as they won the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal Frauen. On the international stage, the forward is just one goal short of equalling Denmark’s all-time record goal tally. Harder has won a whole host of personal accolades during the last 12 months including the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year award and UEFA Women’s Champions League Forward of the Season award.
The winner of The Best FIFA Women’s Player award for 2020 will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2020 on Thursday.
