Lewes have this morning issued an official club press release in which they have announced a significant partnership with fashion brand Lyle & Scott which will see a six-figure sum invested into the club.
The FA Women’s Championship club have ambitious plans to reach the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and their latest partnership is big news for the women’s game and one which could help strengthen Lewes’ dream of joining the elite in the coming years.
The financial stability which the deal will bring to The Dripping Pan will be much welcomed with Lewes having been forced to play matches behind-closed-doors since February due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The club have been pioneers in creating a COVID-secure environment for fans to return to stadiums and they have recently welcomed fans back in limited numbers.
It is understood that the partnership with Lyle & Scott will bring an in-depth content series, aid with the costs of acquiring new key players, provide shirt sponsorship of both the women’s and men’s teams, increase grassroots community outreach and help develop club facilities.
When speaking about the Lyle & Scott deal in Lewes’ official club press release, general manager Maggie Murphy said “In a dark year where women’s sport faced so many setbacks, this partnership with Lyle & Scott proves that women’s football and ethical, community-oriented football is the future of the game. This investment allows us to grow, professionalize and strengthen our squad as well as share our story with others via a unique content partnership with Lyle & Scott.”
Lewes are enjoying their third season in the FA Women’s Championship. The Rookettes are currently occupying sixth place in the table and are on course for their best league finish and points tally to date.
