Former West Ham United defender Brooke Hendrix is set to play her football for a new club in 2021 with the player having been waived by Washington Spirit according to reports on the NWSL club’s official website.
The 27-year-old centre-back joined The Spirit from West Ham United in January but saw her game time limited back home in the United States with the COVID-19 pandemic not helping her cause.
Hendrix made just five appearances for Washington Spirit in 2020, playing less than 100 minutes for the club. With The Spirit making squad arrangements for 2021, the club have today announced that Hendrix is one of six players being waived and the player will be added to the offseason re-entry wire.
West Ham United signed Hendrix in 2018 ahead of their debut campaign in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The defender made 21 appearances for The Hammers in her 18 months playing in the English top flight. Hendrix also played the full 90 minutes for West Ham United as they were defeated 3-0 by Manchester City in the 2018/2019 Women’s FA Cup final.
It is not currently known where Hendrix may be playing her football in 2021. With the player now back home in America, she is likely to remain in the NWSL and be picked up by another club.
In addition to her time playing in the United States and England, Hendrix has also previously enjoyed spells playing in Scotland, Switzerland, Iceland and Italy during her senior career to date.
