West Ham United have appointed New Zealand-born coach Olli Harder as their new manager on a two-and-a-half-year deal according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 34-year-old replaces former Hammers boss Matt Beard who left the club by mutual consent last month following a challenging start to the new season.
Harder arrives at The Chigwell Construction Stadium following a period working in various coaching roles in Norway including a spell as head coach at Toppserien club Klepp IL where he won the Norwegian Coach of the Year award in consecutive seasons.
Harder has also previously worked in China, England, New Zealand and the United States and brings an impressive coaching CV with him to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
The new West Ham United boss must look to perform a similar job at The Chigwell Construction Stadium as the one which he carried out in Norway with former club Klepp IL. He transformed the club’s fortunes, turning one of Norwegian football’s unfashionable sides into one which can now hold it’s own amongst the elite. New club West Ham United have been inconsistent so far this season despite having a quality squad of players and Harder will now begin the job of helping the East Londoners achieve their full potential in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
