Former Everton, Bristol City and Sheffield United midfielder set for Brisbane Roar debut

Former Everton, Bristol City and Sheffield United midfielder Olivia Chance could be in-line to make her debut for latest club Brisbane Roar in the W-League this week.

Australian football’s top league competition starts on Tuesday morning with Brisbane Roar’s fixture against Melbourne City at the Dolphin Stadium in Redcliffe being the opening game.

There could be a familiar face to English football fans in the Roar squad with former Everton, Bristol City and Sheffield United midfielder Chance potentially in-line for a first appearance for her new club.

The 27-year-old New Zealand international midfielder started the 2020/2021 FA Women’s Championship campaign with Sheffield United but opted to leave The Blades in November after being given the opportunity to move closer to home and play in the W-League.

In total, Chance spent almost four years playing her football in England after initially joining Everton in early 2017. She spent more than two years with The Blue Girls before moving to Bristol City. The player’s time in England was disrupted by serious injury but she overcame her battles in the treatment room and enjoyed an injury-free short spell at Sheffield United earlier this season before earning her move to Australia.

Chance’s latest club Brisbane Roar finished the 2019/2020 campaign in fifth position in the W-League, just five points short of a play-off place.
