Former Manchester City forward leading the way for high-flying Real Madrid

Former Manchester City forward Kosovare Asllani went into the Christmas break as the leading goalscorer for current club Real Madrid in what is their debut season since their formation.

The Whites transitioned from their former CD Tacon identity on 1 July 2020 and are sitting in second position in their debut campaign in Spain’s Primera Iberdrola.

Real Madrid have netted 31 goals in just 13 league matches so far this season with former Manchester City forward Asllani scoring nine of those goals. The Swedish international joined the club in summer 2019 under their former CD Tacon guise. The striker bagged five goals for CD Tacon last season but has been in explosive form so far this season, scoring in eight consecutive matches at the start of the season. The Swede is on-target to reach double figures in league competition for the first time since hitting 13 goals in one campaign for Paris Saint-Germain back in 2014/2015.

Asllani spent a little over 18 months with former club Manchester City between 2016 and 2017. The player won the all three domestic trophies whilst on the club’s books, although she wasn’t known for regular goalscoring. The striker netted three goals in all competitions for City in 25 appearances. Her greatest moment came in the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals when she netted against Lyon at The Academy Stadium.

In August 2017, Asllani left Manchester City to re-join former club Linkopings where she spent two years before moving to Spain.
