Merseyside club Marine have called on Rehanne Skinner’s Tottenham Hotspur side to agree to a pre-season friendly against them this summer.
The Crosby-based minnows made the move via their official club Twitter account off the back of the euphoria surrounding the men’s side’s Emirates FA Cup third round tie against Spurs at The Marine Travel Arena next weekend.
The Emirates FA Cup tie will be played behind-closed-doors but Marine have received outstanding support from home and away fans along with the general footballing world via their virtual match ticket incentive. For just £10, fans are able to buy a virtual match ticket to the game which includes an entry into the club’s raffle to win one of four excellent prizes which include becoming the club’s manager for one pre-season game next season.
Marine’s women’s side are hoping to build their own relationship with Spurs following on from the men’s fixture with the club issuing a plea to the North Londoners to agree to staging a pre-season friendly between the two sides this summer. The Merseyside outfit are currently playing their football at level 7 of the pyramid, six levels below top flight outfit Spurs.
Given the fact that any pre-season fixture would be likely to take place in August, Marine would be hoping to admit fans to the game and in-turn, generate some much-needed revenue for the club.
With all the hype over @MarineAFC playing @SpursOfficial … who thinks our women should go head to head with @SpursWomen??💪💪⚽️⚽️
