Manchester City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against West Ham United which was scheduled to take place at The Academy Stadium on Saturday has been postponed, the club have announced.
The decision has been made by The Football Association as a result of positive COVID-19 tests in the Manchester City camp and ‘other mitigating factors’.
Manchester City are due to host Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup next week and at this stage, it is unknown whether that fixture will also be called off.
This weekend’s postponement is the second consecutive cancellation for West Ham United with the East Londoners having seen their final fixture of 2020 against Aston Villa called off following a small number of positive COVID-19 tests within their environment. New Hammers boss Olli Harder will now be made to wait four additional days before he is able to take charge of the club for the first time with West Ham United set to take on second tier side Durham at The Chigwell Construction Stadium in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup on Wednesday.
A new date for Manchester City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against West Ham United is set to be agreed in due course.
