Former Sheffield United midfielder makes Brisbane Roar debut

Former Sheffield United midfielder Olivia Chance came off the bench to make her debut for latest club Brisbane Roar this morning as they drew 1-1 with Canberra United in the Australian W-League.

The 27-year-old New Zealand international replaced forward Rosie Sutton with three minutes to go at The Dolphin Oval as Brisbane Roar were left frustrated in their quest for their first victory of the season.

Midfielder Katrina Gorry gave the hosts an early advantage with a goal scored inside the opening three minutes of the match. Jake Goodship’s side looked set for three points until Grace Maher levelled matters with 12 minutes to go. Roar boss Goodship threw on Chance in an attacking role in a bid to see his side regain the lead but is wasn’t to be as the hosts recorded a third consecutive W-League draw.

Chance joined Brisbane Roar in November following a short spell with FA Women’s Championship club Sheffield United. The player made three appearances for The Blades in all competitions during his time at The Technique Stadium.

The midfielder spent three years playing in the English game with Chance having also represented Barclays FA Women’s Super League clubs Everton and Bristol City prior to joining Sheffield United on a free transfer.
