Manchester City have completed the signing of United States international defender Abby Dahlkemper according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 27-year-old moves to The Academy Stadium on the back of a four-year spell with National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club North Carolina Courage.
It has been reported that Dahlkemper has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with City while she has been handed the number 13 shirt by the club. The player is currently away on international duty therefore she will not be available for City’s remaining fixtures this month in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
On the international stage, Dahlkemper has been capped by her country on 62 occasions at senior level. The player was a member of the United States’ FIFA Women’s World Cup-winning squad of 2019 while she has twice lifted the SheBelieves Cup with The Stars and Stripes.
Dahlkemper is a three-time National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) winner while she has been named in the NWSL Best XI in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2017, the player was crowned the NWSL Defender of the Year.
City now have three American internationals on their books with Dahlkemper joining national team colleagues Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis at The Academy Stadium.
