PREVIEW: Durham v London Bees

Durham will be hoping to keep the pressure on FA Women’s Championship leaders Leicester City when they face London Bees at Maiden Castle this afternoon.

Lee Sanders’ side returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their last league match and they will be keen to continue that trend as they take on a struggling London Bees side in bitterly cold conditions in the North East this afternoon.

Durham could welcome left-back Lauren Briggs back into the squad after she missed the midweek FA Women’s Continental League Cup quarter-final defeat to West Ham United through suspension. Abby Holmes returned to action at The Chigwell Construction Stadium following her long-term injury and she will be hoping for more game time against The Bees. Durham remain without long-term absentee Iris Achterhof.

London Bees boss Lee Burch will be hoping for another resolute performance from his side at Maiden Castle this afternoon. The Bees held city rivals London City Lionesses to a goalless draw at The Hive in their last match seven days ago. Burch could keep faith with the 11 players that started that match, although he could call on forward Lauren Pickett if he opts for a creative spark.

Durham’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against London Bees is scheduled to kick-off at Midday and fans can watch the game live on the hosts’ Facebook stream by clicking here.
