Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Elisha Sulola has joined Charlton Athletic on loan for the remainder of the season according to reports on Spurs’ official club website.
Sulola is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy which she joined at the age of 12 from Edmonton Eagles Barsulola where she had played since the age of five. She made her first senior appearance for Spurs against Lewes in last season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup, a game which the North Londoners won 6-0. Sulola chalked up an assist in that game and then scored her first goal for the club in the 5-0 win against Barnsley in the Women’s FA Cup.
The young midfielder signed her first professional contract with Spurs in the summer and has made three appearances for the club this season, making her Barclays FA Women’s Super League debut as a 90th-minute substitute against Arsenal and playing 25 minutes against Reading.
Alongside her playing career, Sulola is studying for a degree in football and coaching management and still coaching at Edmonton Eagles Barsulola where she has gained her FA Level 1 coaching badge. Tottenham born and bred, Sulola also works for Community Action Sport in Northumberland Park providing coaching for kids in the community.
Sulola is the brightest prospect to emerge from the Spurs academy and the opportunity to get game time in the FA Women’s Championship will allow her to make the next step in her career and will inspire others coming behind her. Her opportunities at Spurs this season have been limited and while she has been on the bench for a number of games, she hasn’t started any even in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
