Charlton Athletic will be aiming to climb off the bottom of the FA Women’s Championship table this evening when neighbours London City Lionesses are the visitors to The Oakwood.
The Addicks have won just one of their nine league games this season but they can leapfrog both London Bees and Coventry United and jump out of the relegation zone with victory over poor travellers London City Lionesses.
Riteesh Mishra’s side have not won a home league game for more than 18 months, however, the Charlton Athletic boss has been busy boosting his ranks this week. Mishra has brought in highly-rated youngsters Elisha Sulola and Angie Dunbar-Bonnie on loan deals for the remainder of the season while forward Emma Plewa, a player with senior international experience, has also arrived at The Oakwood. All three players could be in contention to make their debuts this evening.
London City Lionesses have not won on the road for more than a year, although they have held both Sheffield United and London Bees to goalless draws in their latest away fixtures. The Pride have made their Princes Park home a fortress and head coach Mel Phillips will be hoping to see her side transfer that winning form into their away performances. Forward Liz Ejupi netted two goals in London City Lionesses’ 3-0 home victory over Blackburn Rovers on Sunday and she will be hoping to add to her goal tally against her former club.
Charlton Athletic’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses at The Oakwood kicks-off at 7.45pm this evening.
