Reading have completed the signing of Mexican youth international midfielder Silvana Flores from Chelsea according to reports on The Royals’ official website.
The 18-year-old Ontario-born midfielder moves to The Madejski Stadium following a near-eight-month spell with The Blues.
Flores is a product of the Arsenal academy system. The youngster went on to feature in The Gunners’ senior matchday squad on a handful of occasions but never made her first team debut for the North Londoners.
The teenager announced her departure from Arsenal in the summer and she quickly moved across London to join the club’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals Chelsea. Flores has again found senior playing opportunities hard to come by with the player having never made Emma Hayes’ matchday squad for a first team fixture.
On the international stage, Flores has represented Mexico at various youth levels up to Under-20 level. She netted her first goal for that age group in a 4-1 CONCACAF tournament defeat to the United States in March 2020.
Flores could be involved for new club Reading when they travel to The Leigh Sports Village to take on Manchester United tomorrow. Royals boss Kelly Chambers is no stranger to giving opportunities to young players and there is every chance that Flores will be given a platform to shine with the Berkshire club.
