Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn has completed the signing of Derby County midfielder Katie Anderson according to reports on The Blades’ official website.
The 22-year-old Bolton-born midfielder joins the South Yorkshire club on a dual registration basis with Anderson’s other club Derby County’s season currently suspended due to the UK lockdown.
Anderson previously played second tier football with Sheffield FC before being sidelined for a lengthy period with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The versatile midfielder joined Derby County back in September ahead of the 2020/2021 FA Women’s National League North season. Anderson made six appearances for The Ewe Rams, scoring one goal prior to the season being suspended.
Having returned to full fitness this season, Anderson will have been keen to continue playing and she will no doubt be delighted to have got that opportunity with Redfearn’s Sheffield United side. Anderson has been handed the number 17 shirt by The Blades and she could go straight into the squad which will travel to The Hive to take on London Bees in the FA Women’s Championship tomorrow.
After a run of patchy form which saw Sheffield United fall away from the title race, Redfearn’s side have bounced back with consecutive victories. The Blades are currently seven points off the summit ahead of this weekend’s action.
