PREVIEW: Arsenal v Manchester City

The big game of the weekend in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League sees Arsenal take on Manchester City at Meadow Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are currently nine points adrift of league leaders Chelsea with a game in hand while City are five points from the summit. The harsh reality is that the losers of this weekend’s meeting in Boreham Wood are almost certainly out of the title race.

Arsenal head coach Joe Montemurro will again be without the services of Australian defender Steph Catley who is recovering from surgery while Austrian midfielder Viktoria Schnaderbeck is also sidelined with a knee injury. The Gunners are not thought to have any fresh injury concerns.

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor continues to work with depleted numbers, although Esme Morgan, Janine Beckie and Jess Park are likely to return after missing the 4-0 victory over West Ham United last weekend. City could offer late fitness tests to full-back Demi Stokes and midfielder Sam Mewis but defensive duo Megan Campbell and Gemma Bonner are out.

Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester City is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon. The match will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1.
