Arsenal trio Jill Roord, Danielle van de Donk and Vivianne Miedema are three of six English-based players to be called up by The Netherlands for the ‘Three Nations, One Goal’ tournament later this month.
Sarina Wiegman’s side will come up against Belgium and Germany in a tournament which is being contested by the three clubs who are hoping to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027 on a joint basis.
Midfielder Roord could collect her 60th senior cap for her country should she feature in both matches while Arsenal teammate Miedema is just nine appearances short of a century a senior level. Roord, Van de Donk and Miedema are joined in the Dutch squad by Manchester United midfielder Jackie Groenen and Brighton & Hove Albion pair Danique Kerkdijk and Inessa Kaagman.
Dutch head coach Wiegman has selected 23 players in total for the ‘Three Nations, One Goal’ tournament. The tournament takes place a little under a year from The Netherlands’ last tournament appearance at the Tournoi de France. The Orange Lionesses drew all three matches in France against Brazil, Canada and the tournament hosts.
The Netherlands are set to take on Belgium in Leuven on Thursday 18 February before hosting Germany in Venlo six days later.
