Liverpool’s meeting with Coventry United in the FA Women’s Championship has been postponed due to a frozen pitch at Prenton Park.
The two clubs were due to meet on Merseyside this afternoon but the game will no longer go ahead. Liverpool came to an agreement with Coventry United yesterday to move the kick-off time back two hours to 4pm in an attempt to get the game on but after the referee inspected the pitch at 11am this morning, the decision was made to postpone the fixture.
FAWSL Full-Time were notified of the postponement by Liverpool shortly after the pitch inspection had been conducted.
It is likely to be more than a month before the rearranged game will be staged with both clubs already having fixtures immediately after the international break. Coventry United host Charlton Athletic in their next match in a fortnight’s time while Liverpool welcome London Bees to Prenton Park on the same date.
Three FA Women’s Championship fixtures are set to go ahead this afternoon. Crystal Palace and London Bees will contest a London derby at Hayes Lane while Lewes host London City Lionesses. The final match sees in-form Sheffield United take on Charlton Athletic at The Technique Stadium.
