Durham will be looking to keep up the pace at the top of the FA Women’s Championship table when they travel to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
The Wildcats are enjoying an impressive run in the division and are still the only team to go unbeaten so far this season. They currently sit level on points at the summit with Leicester City who they face next weekend. Meanwhile, Rovers will be hoping for some consistency, with the club being without a win since November, although two consecutive draws may offer some confidence.
Lee Sanders’ Durham side go into the match on the back of three consecutive 1-0 wins and a victory against Blackburn Rovers could see them go top of the table if Leicester City slip up at London Bees this weekend. Rovers are one of the few teams to have taken a point from Durham this season with the pair having drawn 0-0 at Maiden Castle in December.
Gemma Donnelly’s side are in desperate need of a victory, having been winless in six league games, although they are 10 points above the relegation zone and are virtually assured of second tier football again next season.
Durham attacker Beth Hepple will be hoping to return to goalscoring form after a brilliant start to the season which saw her net eight goals. Hepple is yet to score in 2021 but she will be keen to rediscover her goalscoring touch and fire her side to promotion come the end of the season.
Blackburn Rovers’ FA Women’s Championship fixture against Durham is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm on Sunday and will be streamed live on Rovers’ official YouTube channel.
