Aston Villa midfielder Freya Gregory has signed her first professional contract with the club according to reports on Villa’s official club website.
The 18-year-old has impressed for Villa’s WSL Academy side this season, resulting in the player being drafted into Marcus Bignot’s first team squad.
Gregory made her senior debut for Villa from the bench in last month’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at The Banks’s Stadium and she has since gone on to add two further first team appearances to her tally.
The teenager has today been rewarded by Villa for the promise shown early in her career with Gregory agreeing her first professional terms with the club. The length of the deal has been left undisclosed by Villa.
After starting out on the books at Villa as a scholar, Gregory made the switch across the Second City to the club’s neighbours Birmingham City in 2018. The midfielder spent time in the Blues’ academy side before making her senior footballing debut in November 2019 in a Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion at The Amex Stadium.
Gregory has been named in Villa boss Bignot’s matchday squad in each of the last five matches in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and she could be involved again at Chelsea on Sunday.
