Chelsea goalkeeper Zecira Musovic played the full 90 minutes for Sweden as they defeated Poland 4-2 in Lodz this evening.
After battling to an impressive 1-1 draw with the United States on Saturday, Swedish head coach Peter Gerhardsson opted to make several changes to his side this evening. Those changes included Chelsea defenders Jonna Andersson and Magda Eriksson dropping to the bench and goalkeeper Musovic coming in for Jennifer Falk.
It was Poland who broke the deadlock at the Stadium Miejski Widzewa Lodz with an Ewa Pajor goal after 26 minutes. Sweden responded and a quick-fire double from Stina Blackstenius saw the game swing in their favour just before the interval.
An exciting contest took another twist early in the second half when Pajor completed her brace as Poland levelled matters. Milosz Stepinski’s side put up a good fight for the remainder of the game and they looked set to claim a draw until Caroline Seger netted with just four minutes to go. Poland’s frustration was capped-off in second half injury time when Sweden netted a fourth goal through Lina Hurtig.
Chelsea’s Swedish contingent will now return to Kingsmeadow ahead of The Blues’ Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against London City Lionesses on Friday evening.
