Birmingham City midfielder Chloe McCarron has left the club by mutual consent according to reports on the Blues’ official website.
The 23-year-old Northern Ireland international recently had to return home for personal reasons and the club have today announced that the decision has been made that McCarron will remain across the water.
McCarron joined Birmingham City at the start of the current season and the player has been a reliable member of head coach Carla Ward’s squad. The midfielder has made 12 appearances for the Blues in all competitions with half of those outings coming as starts.
The player was a member of Kenny Shiels’ Northern Ireland side which recently made history in becoming the nation’s first women’s team to qualify for a major tournament finals. The Green and White Army saw off a Ukraine side ranked 25 places above them in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings in a play-off to qualify for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.
Prior to her move to Birmingham City, McCarron represented Irish clubs Mid-Ulster and Linfield and it seems highly likely that she will continue her career playing in the NIFL Danske Bank Women’s Premiership. The midfielder has won Northern Irish football’s top prize on three previous occasions with former club Linfield.
