Chelsea forward Pernille Harder will be aiming to score her 30th UEFA Women’s Champions League goal against Bayern Munich on Sunday.
The 28-year-old has netted 29 goals in just 35 tournament matches to date and she could hit the 30 mark against her former rivals Bayern Munich.
Other than five of her goals, all of her strikes have come when playing in the lime green of her former side VfL Wolfsburg. Harder fired the She-Wolves to the UEFA Women’s Champions League final last season and she was named the competition’s Forward of the Season. She was also the tournament’s top scorer in 2018/2019 with eight goals.
Harder came back to haunt her old club in this season’s quarter-finals. The Danish international netted in each of the two legs which Chelsea played against VfL Wolfsburg as they won the tie 5-1 on aggregate. The forward’s other UEFA Women’s Champions League goal this season came in the round of 32 as Chelsea defeated Benfica 5-0 in Portugal back in December.
Harder’s current UEFA Women’s Champions League goal tally of 29 still leaves her some way behind the top 10 all-time tournament goalscorers. Lyon’s Ada Hegerberg is the all-time top scorer with 53 goals while Harder would need 38 to enter the top 10 with 10th-placed goalscorer Inka Grings having retired on that number.
