PREVIEW: Aston Villa v Bristol City

The bottom two sides in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League go head-to-head this afternoon when 11th-placed Aston Villa take on bottom club Bristol City at The Banks’s Stadium.

A positive result for the hosts will keep them out of the relegation zone with four games left to play while Bristol City have just three games to save their Barclays FA Women’s Super League status.

Marcus Bignot’s Aston Villa side ended a six-game losing run in all competitions with a hugely important goalless draw at West Ham United last time out. Bignot could opt to keep faith with the 11 players that started that match and field the same line-up against Bristol City this afternoon.

With a home game against Manchester United and an away fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion to come, Bristol City know that they need to beat latest opponents Aston Villa in Walsall. The Robins continue to be without long term absentees Jas Matthews and Megan Wynne but defender Meaghan Sergeant returned last time out and could be set for another start.

Aston Villa’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm and will be screened live on the FA Player.
