Tottenham Hotspur defender Shelina Zadorsky has signed a new one-year deal at The Hive according to reports on Spurs’ official club website.
The 28-year-old Canadian international centre-back joined Spurs from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Orlando Pride in August 2020. The player initially moved to North London on a loan arrangement but the deal was made permanent in January.
It has today been confirmed that Zadorsky has agreed to extend her stay with Spurs for next season. The player has put pen to paper on a deal which will keep her with the club until 30 June 2022.
Zadorsky has been a key member of the Spurs side this season, featuring in 19 of the club’s 21 matches in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The defender netted her only goal in Spurs’ 2-2 draw at Arsenal in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup, a game which her side would later go on to lose on penalty kicks.
Speaking after signing her new deal, Zadorsky told Spurs’ official media sources “I feel very excited. Coming over from the NWSL to the WSL has been such a fun journey and I am loving every minute here with Spurs, I think we are creating a really good culture.
“It is exciting to see where we are heading. The quality of this league is top tier and playing week in, week out against some of the best opposition has been great.
“The club have been really welcoming and have really made my transition easy. I’m excited to stay.”
