Arsenal midfielder Jill Roord has agreed a move to German club VfL Wolfsburg according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.
The 24-year-old Dutch international midfielder was initially rumoured to be a target for the She-Wolves last week and that transfer speculation has today turned out to be true.
It has been confirmed by Arsenal that Roord will become a VfL Wolfsburg player once the current season comes to an end with the German side paying an undisclosed fee to The Gunners to secure her services. The midfielder returns to Germany two years on from leaving VfL Wolfsburg’s closest rivals Bayern Munich.
Roord’s departure is a real blow for Arsenal with the player having held an important role in The Gunners’ midfield this season. She scored seven goals and provided four assists in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League as the North Londoners successfully secured their return to the UEFA Women’s Champions League courtesy of a third-place finish in the league.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 runner-up could make her final appearance in an Arsenal shirt on Sunday when Joe Montemurro’s side take on FA Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup at Meadow Park.
