West Ham United complete the signing of Australian international midfielder

West Ham United have completed the signing of Australian international midfielder Tameka Yallop according to reports on The Hammers’ official club website.

The 29-year-old will join the East Londoners in the summer off the back of her second spell at Australian W-League club Brisbane Roar. The Hammers have handed Yallop their number 13 shirt for the 2021/2022 season.

Yallop is no stranger to West Ham United manager Olli Harder. The player featured for Harder’s former club Klepp IL in 2017 and she will be well-aware of what the New Zealander is looking to achieve with his new side.

Yallop is a former Julie Dolan Medal winner from her time playing back home in the W-League. The award is handed out to the top player in the competition. She also previously won an award for being the W-League’s best young player.

The midfielder is hugely experienced at senior international level. Yallop has made 82 appearances for The Matildas in which she has scored 10 goals. Yallop has been a regular member of the Australian side for well over a decade and was a member of the team which featured at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.

Upon joining West Ham United, Yallop told the club’s official media sources “I’m super excited to be coming over and playing in the Women’s Super League.

“It’s a league that’s been getting stronger and stronger over the last couple of years and I’m excited to have the chance of playing in the competition for West Ham United.”

West Ham United will be looking to improve on their ninth-place finish in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in 2021/2022.
