Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper Mary Earps has recently undergone surgery on a minor injury problem, the club have revealed.
The 28-year-old Nottingham-born stopper is thought to have been carrying a minor injury for a while with Manchester United confirming that the surgery was pre-planned. Earps will undergo a period of rehabilitation, however, there is nothing to indicate that she will spend a significant period of time on the sidelines. Full details of the injury have been left undisclosed by the club.
Manchester United confirmed news of Earps’ recent surgery in a post on their official Twitter account this morning.

Earps has been an ever-present for Manchester United in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League. She has kept 10 clean sheets in 22 league games as The Red Devils claimed fourth place in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
The keeper joined United ahead of their debut season in the top flight in summer 2019. Earps had previously endured a frustrating one-year spell in Germany with then-Frauen-Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg. She will begin her third season as a United player in 2021/2022.
Earps signed a new two-year contract with Manchester United back in February. The deal will keep the player at The Leigh Sports Village until the end of the 2022/2023 season.
