Rumoured Manchester City target Shaw leaves Bordeaux

The chances of Jamaican international forward Khadija Shaw pulling on a Manchester City shirt next season may have just increased with the player’s departure from current club Bordeaux having been announced.

The 24-year-old Spanish Town-born attacker has recently been linked with a move to The Academy Stadium after topping the French Division 1 Feminine goalscoring charts with 22 goals in just 20 games.

Manchester City coach Gareth Taylor has previously labelled Shaw as an exciting player but refused to comment on the transfer speculation out of respect to Bordeaux with the forward having been under contract at the French club.

It has today been confirmed that Shaw will be playing her football elsewhere next season with the player’s departure having been announced by Bordeaux. The French club revealed the news of Shaw’s exit via a post on their official Twitter account earlier today.

After spending her college career in the United States, Shaw started out with American Women’s Premier League Soccer (WPLS) club Florida Krush in 2018. The player moved to latest club Bordeaux in summer 2019 and she has netted 32 league goals in two seasons in the French top flight.

Shaw has also scored 42 goals in 30 games at international level and she helped Jamaica become the first Caribbean nation to qualify for a FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019.
