Chelsea defenders Magda Eriksson and Jonna Andersson featured for Sweden as they defeated Norway 1-0 this evening.
Eriksson played the full 90 minutes as a left-centre-back for the Swedes while club teammate Andersson featured in midfield for the first 68 minutes before being replaced by Hanna Glas.
Despite a lively start from the visitors, Sweden soon eased their way into the match and if not for some good goalkeeping by Cecilie Fiskerstrand in the Norwegian goal, they could have been ahead going into the break.
Sweden thought that they had won a penalty just after the hour mark when Fiskerstrand seemed to catch Kosovare Asllani in the box but their claims were waved away by the referee. The Swedes finally got their reward four minutes later when Stina Blackstenius beat Fiskerstrand after being met by an Asllani pass.
Blackstenius had the ball in the net for a second time 11 minutes later but she was deemed to be in an offside position as the goal was chalked off.
Sweden ended the match 1-0 winners as they extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 games, a sequence which began in March 2020.
Peter Gerhardsson’s side return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Australia in Kalmar.
