Influential Durham trio Sarah Wilson, Ellie Christon and Beth Hepple have all signed new contracts with the club.
The Wildcats confirmed the news via a series of club press releases issued throughout the day. All three players have signed two-year extensions at Maiden Castle.
Defender Wilson has been with Durham since 2014 and she is the club’s current captain. The tough-tackler featured in all of Durham’s FA Women’s Championship fixtures this season, helping the club to record 10 clean sheets in the process. She is one of two players to have made 150 appearances for The Wildcats.
Full-back Christon’s Durham career has followed a similar path to Wilson’s and she could also join the 150-appearance club as early as next season. Christon has made 19 league appearances this season including 17 starts.
Top scorer Hepple has also agreed new terms after netting 10 goals in 20 league games. Another ever-present in the side, the attacker’s goals were key to The Wildcats remaining in the hunt for promotion until the final few games. Hepple is the other Durham one-and-a-half centurion.
With the trio having almost 500 appearances between them, today’s news comes as a real positive for Durham. Their experience will be vital as the club look to again push the full-time clubs in the FA Women’s Championship all of the way next season.
