Former Bristol City forward Ebony Salmon’s impressive start to her career in the United States continued last night with a goal on her first start for new club Racing Louisville.
The 20-year-old England international attacker opened her goalscoring account for her new club on her debut last weekend as she came off the bench to net the only goal in Racing Louisville’s 1-0 victory over Houston Dash.
Racing Louisville head coach Christy Holly played Salmon from the start against Chicago Red Stars last night and the player was again on target, beating home keeper Alyssa Naeher late in the first half after catching her slightly out of position. Racing Louisville went on to win the match 3-0 as they picked up their first points of the season on the road.
Salmon was the top scorer for former club Bristol City this season before moving to Racing Louisville at the end of the campaign. She netted six goals in 20 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances for The Robins but her efforts were unable to help the club avoid relegation to the FA Women’s Championship.
After making such a bright start for her new club, Salmon will be hoping to retain her position in the Racing Louisville attack when they face Portland Thorns in their next match on Sunday 4 July.
